Today I thought I’d share a little information about myself!

🏡 I was born and raised in Essex but moved up to the midlands 13 years ago. I now live in a sleepy village in Northamptonshire and love the quiet life.

💻 I studied Illustration at University and graduated in 2011 with a first. I started out studying fine art and illustration but decided after the first year I wanted to focus in one area and picked illustration.

I was looking at a masters in 3D animation after university but then fell in love with surface pattern design! Slightly different I know!

Mediterranean sun ☀️

- I absolutely had to get involved and design my spin on the Mediterranean theme that I’m seeing everywhere at the moment!

- I used a simple primary colour palette and created motifs such as lemons, tomatoes, olives, sardines, beautiful tiles and breads.

- I had so much fun creating this one - I am meant to be designing AW26 at the moment but it’s fun to go with my creative flow when I get inspired.

As it’s Mental Health Awareness Month I thought I’d share my tips on the things I do to help clear my mind. I’m speaking as a freelance creative and a mum to two young boys here, but hopefully everyone can take something from it!

🌟 Work / life separation (Severence, if you like!)

It’s only now, after 4 years of freelancing that I’ve finally taken my work emails off my phone. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to realise that I was never really switching off in the evenings and weekends. Such an easy trap to get into!

🌟 Mindfulness

I use the Headspace app every day, it’s great for learning how to meditate, tips on sleep, wellbeing and more! I’m not an affiliate but I can get you a 30 day guest pass if you want to try it!

🌟 Gardening

I find gardening so peaceful and relaxing - I’m still learning but I’m having fun along the way 🌱

🌟 Exercise

I normally always feel good the morning after I play netball. It’s such a laugh, there is no judgement and I fully focus on what I’m doing!

🌟Focusing one task at a time

When I’m with my boys I try my best to focus fully on them, no work emails allowed!

On headspace the other day it was talking about the concept of feeling ‘just 1% better’, instead of putting the pressure on ourselves that we need to feel better right away. I love this idea… it’s ok not to feel ok.. And that’s ok! 🙂

Also, I’m here to challenge the idea that they can only be used in girly prints! Take a look at my second print here, which includes:

- an earthy gender neutral colour palette
- simple butterflies that are bold rather than dainty

I can completely see this being on gender neutral baby clothing. What are your thoughts?

- Something I love about working with print on demand companies such as @Spoonflower is that prints that I created years ago still have a purpose... They can be re-coloured to stay modern and relevant but they have a nice life-span!

A few personal goals of mine & my husbands:

✨ last year we built a compost heap in our garden & this year we’re trying to use it as much as we can

✨I'm recycling an old Belfast sink, I'm planning to turn it into a mini pond. Excited to see what wildlife it will attract!

I hear that 2025 is the ‘Year of the snake!’ 🐍

Here’s a cute snake pattern that I created alongside my desert dinosaurs print (Swipe to see)

I like the way that the print almost looks like abstract shapes at first! The cobalt blue also adds a bright contrast to the earthy brown tone.
