How do you turn a tightly packed print into something that still feels light? 🌿

I recently spotted this spring jungle print I created a while ago, and love how it’s turned out!

There’s a lot happening in the pattern — giraffes, rhinos, elephants, zebras, koalas, and plenty of foliage — but it doesn’t feel overly dense.

💡 The key was to create an outlined version of each animal too, so there aren’t too many solid areas. This gives the print more breathing room when you look closely.

It’s a great reminder that even busy prints can feel balanced with the right approach to detail and texture.

Today I thought I’d share a little information about myself!

🏡 I was born and raised in Essex but moved up to the midlands 13 years ago. I now live in a sleepy village in Northamptonshire and love the quiet life.

💻 I studied Illustration at University and graduated in 2011 with a first. I started out studying fine art and illustration but decided after the first year I wanted to focus in one area and picked illustration.

I was looking at a masters in 3D animation after university but then fell in love with surface pattern design! Slightly different I know!

🖌️ I worked in-house for years as a greeting card designer and a print designer.

I always knew I wanted to freelance eventually and decided to make the leap in 2021 once I became a mama!

Mediterranean sun ☀️

- I absolutely had to get involved and design my spin on the Mediterranean theme that I’m seeing everywhere at the moment!

- I used a simple primary colour palette and created motifs such as lemons, tomatoes, olives, sardines, beautiful tiles and breads.

- I had so much fun creating this one - I am meant to be designing AW26 at the moment but it’s fun to go with my creative flow when I get inspired.
