What is licensing?Art licensing is effectively ‘borrowing’ my artwork to print yourself using your chosen fabric manufacturer. The license is effective for a period of time eg. 2 years, on a certain product eg. baby sleepsuits in a certain country eg. the USA
-
How much do licenses cost? Each license is bespoke to you - I take into consideration things like: -what product you want to print the artwork on -the license type (see below) -the length of the license. Fill out my licensing enquiry form and I’ll get back to you with a bespoke quote that is tailored to your needs.
-
Who owns the copyright? For both non-exclusive and exclusive licenses (see below) I as the artist will still retain the copyright at all times for my art.
-
What is the difference between a non-exclusive and an exclusive license?Non-exclusive - When you choose a non-exclusive license you are given the right to print my artwork using the manufacturer of your choice. I will still have the right to sell the print to other companies and on my Spoonflower shop etc. Exclusive - The print will be exclusively yours in your chosen category for the duration of the license. I will still have the right to sell the print to other companies within a different category to the one specified in the license. For example: if the print is licensed exclusively on baby clothing, I will still be able to license it to other companies on nursery wallpaper / reusable nappies / nursery bedding etc.
-
Do you offer buyouts?I do on occasion offer full buyouts of my prints. These are at a higher price point so are best suited to larger companies. I normally work to an hourly design fee for custom prints. If this is something that you’re looking for do get in touch. I’ll see if I can help!
-
Ok, I’m ready! Where can I find your artwork to browse through?Register for the password to my print collection. Another great place to look is my Spoonflower shop as this is where I have many scale / colour versions of my licensing collection. As you can see…. I have ALOT of patterns! If you’re looking for something in particular just drop me an email and I can point you in the right direction!
-
How are the files delivered?I create my designs in either Photoshop or Illustrator, depending on the artwork. These days I mainly create Photoshop files. I will normally send you a High-res JPG in RGB mode… however if you have specific needs then let me know. It’s always worth finding out how your fabric printer needs the file first. I can also provide you with Pantone references / different scales if this is needed.
-
Do you license on products other than for baby and nursery?Yes! I have experience licensing my designs for greetings cards, stationery, wrap & art prints. I’d love to hear from you and welcome new projects!
